Nintendo Direct - 09.03.2018

At 9am this morning, Nintendo held their latest Nintendo Direct presentation, and gave us a look into some of their plans for 2019. After the slight disappointment in their previous Nintendo Direct (a mini back in January), this one sure packed a much bigger punch!

The presentation started off with showcasing upcoming Nintendo 3DS titles, and to the surprise of many, there were actually a few notable titles. WarioWare Gold (July 28), Mario & Luigi: Bower's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey (TBD 2019) and Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers (May 26) were announced, alongside a remaster of the GameCube title Luigi's Mansion (TBD 2018), and the Wii U title Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (July 13). Captain Toad will also be seeing a Switch release the same date, though the 3DS version will feature 3D visuals and touch controls. Detective Pikachu also received some spotlight, which will release on March 24th, alongside a Detective Pikachu amiibo. Though there are very few games coming to the 3DS, it's nice seeing Nintendo continue to support the system through 2019.

As for the Nintendo Switch, it received a large focus of the Direct, we'll discuss the more bigger reveals in detail, but first we'll just list the more minor ones:
  • Kirby Star Allies (March 16): will include free DLC updates, the first coming March 28, introducing Marx and Gooey, and character set "Rick & Kine & Coo"
  • Octopath Traveller (July 19): will release includes a Special Edition knows as Octopath Traveller: Traveller's Compendium Edition in Australia, which comes witha  sytalised pop-up book, a map, and a coin, alongside the game

  • South Park: The Fractured But Whole (April 24): includes all DLC from other platforms
  • Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido (June 8): will also release on the 3DS the same day
  • DARK SOULS: REMASTERED (May 25): will also release alongside limited quantities of  an amiibo based on Solaire of Astora, exclusively released on the Official Nintendo AU/NZ eBay Store. An online "network test" demo of the game will also be released in the future
  • Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (TBD 2018): Switch exclusive
  • Little Nightmares: Complete Edition (May 18): contains the tales of Six and The Runaway Kid in one package. Can also use PAC-MAN amiibo to unlock the Pakku Mask
