[SPOILERS] Here's All The New Items in The AC:NH 1.11.0 Update (and how to get them!)

It's been a while, but we're back with another datamine post, including all the new items added to the latest update! Since there are only a handful of items added, we are going to enter speculative territory, going over pieces of code and text strings that were uncovered by dataminers, to speculate what's to come in the next updates! As always, this post will contain spoilers.

We'll start off by getting all the new items out of the way. of which we have 36. Whilst that may seem like a decent amount, be advised the majority of them are variations. First, we'll start with the new handheld items from the Fireworks Festival, the boba tea, cotton candy, and popsicle! These come in 5, 4 and 3 variations (or flavors), respectively, and can be from entering the raffle held by Redd on Sunday nights during the August fireworks show.

Next up are the Seasonal Nook Shopping items that were mentioned on the website, being the Cucumber and Eggplant Horse (August 10th - 16th, Obon), Tsukimi Dango and Moon Cake (September 12th - 21st, Moon Viewing), and the Songpyeon (September 12th - 21st, Chuseok).

Now this is where things get interesting... Above are all the items Nintendo outright mentioned would be included in the update, but there are a few more. Previously, we were able to accurately predict the announcement and release time of the next update, based on Twitter posts, and items included in the updates. This time, things are going to be a little more tricky...

Within the update are new Halloween items, and a new Seasonal items, that can't be obtained until November. Nintendo have announced they're working on a more substantial update, but it's not going to be as straight forward as last time to figure out when it's coming...

As for the new items, there are three new Halloween themed items, which can be purchased from Nook's cranny during October, or obtained as DIY Recipes from your villagers during the same time. These are the Halloween Snack Basket, Halloween Tree, and Halloween Trick Lamp. As with previous Halloween items, all three can be remade via Pumpkins into different color variations.

Finally, we have the hidden seasonal items. The Halloween items are currently obtainable, and can be obtained right away if you opt to time travel to October, but these ones are time locked until Nintendo decides to update the game and make them available... They are the Marigold Decoration (October 25th - November 3rd), Mochi Lantern (November 1st - 11th), and the Chitose Ame (November 11th - 20th).

As for when the next update could come, what was mentioned on the site seemed to indicate late September would be logical, but going off some of the hidden items, mid November also makes sense. It's worth noting that the 2021 Halloween event (October 31st) is included in Version 1.11.0, but can't be enjoyed until Nintendo forces an update to unlock it, but the 2021 Turkey Day event (November 25th) isn't included. This means they would need to release an update before November 25th at the latest, and given how angsty fans were getting whilst waiting for this update, we don't think Nintendo would want to wait another 4 months for the next update... Only time will tell.

Now, time for the part you've all been waiting for - what's coming in this fabled updated? First, we'd like to preface this by saying, at the present, there is no indication as to whether or not this will be a big update, or something small like we just received. The only information we have regarding it is Nintendo's statement, which just reads "more free content is currently in development for later in the year".

In saying that, some dataminers have peeked through the data and noticed some peculiar text strings that could allude to what's to come in this "update". Please note that whilst everything from this point forward are text strings included in the games code, it doesn't confirm anything about what's to come; we've had mentions of Haniwa/Gyroids in the date for over a year now and we haven't seen them! These mentions could simply be for scrapped development ideas, or misunderstandings. In saying that, here's what some dataminers (Stoney, from the AC:NH discord) have uncovered thus far!

Cafe
It feels like every other week there are rumblings of Brewster and his cafe returning (or maybe that's just the fans eager to have their favorite barista return), and this latest update seems to have added some more fuel to the fire! Stoney mentioned that they "updates cafe camera params" as well as an unused text flow for Rover that mentions "MessageCafe".

As Stoney puts it, a text flow choses 1 of 4 dialogues lines randomly, which initiates a conversation on that topic, and there's also one that mentions "TalkProgressMuseumBuiltCafe". Sadly, no dialogue exists when selecting the text flows in the games data, but they are new addition that weren't present in the previous update.

Fortunes
Fortunes and the Luck mechanic haven't been that present in New Horizons. We got the King Tut Mask in an update about a year ago that added the trip mechanic, but other than that, there's been no movement on the Luck train. We also got a small cameo appearance of Katrina in the updated NSO app. There are now a few more mentions of some type of fortune mechanic coming. Villagers have an unused approach called "ApproachFortune, which and links to unused eventflows called "ApproachH_FortuneFriendship" and "ApproachH_FortuneItem". Much like the Cafe text strings, there is no further dialogue after this... Stoney did point out that these only occur with fortune type 3 and 5, implying other fortune types might be added later...

New Items
These ones are a little more on the speculative side than the previous ones. There's an unused tool name called SwRing (which was actually found in the previous update), and a new item called StickLightColorful, which has a unique animation when placed on furniture. Both these new items don't have any models attached, so we can't see what they are. but more text mentions the Stick will be able to appear as Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Purple, Peach, and White.

As for the SwRing item, we really don't have any indication of what it might be... Some have thought it could be an unused wedding ring type of item, which was meant to be included with June's Wedding Season event, but we don't really see that being the case as it's listed as a tool... We have been thinking "Swimming Ring", which could be used like the pool floats that came to Pocket Camp 2 years ago. Since the previous update did coincide with Summer, it is possible, but it's something we won't really know for sure unless we properly see it in game. For context, tool names in the text are very - the Tapioca Drink is listed as TaDr, and the Cotton Candy is CoCa. Looking back now they are glaringly obvious, but with no context to go off, whatever SwRing could be is a mystery.

Other Things
There are a few more tings Stoney picked up on, but for the sake of time and clarity we'll just copy and paste them since they're rather straightforward:

Stoney —
3 new unused weather patterns: Rain06, Rain07, Fine07

Stoney —
Another interesting thing is that the exterior house wall types and roof types for villagers (as well as the first few stages of the player's house roof) now have values in CustomizeSortID. Meaning if they were to be selected from a list they now have an order.
Could maybe imply villager house customization or something

Stoney —
Villagers will now interact with some items introduced in the previous update. They will take pictures of the carp banner with their phone. Smell festival zongzi, surichwi tteok, and double Gloucester cheese. Ring the nuptial bell. Watch Rover's photo and nuptial ring pillow. And spray carnations with water.

Stoney —
New mysterious clothing this version that female villagers are set to wear automatically with no situation associated (diner uniform & hula top), like the hospital clothes.

And that's about it. Again, we'd like to stress everything after the datamined images is just going off speculation and doesn't outright confirm anything, and reaffirm the fact that Nintendo haven't promised the next update would be big. At this time, we simply have to wait and see when Nintendo decides to announce the next update.
