Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Winter Events Guide

Those in the Southern Hemisphere have just experienced the winter season in New Horizons, with those in the Northern Hemisphere set to experience it in just a few months. There are a number of activities and DIY Recipes to collect during the winter which we have catalogued here, to make sure you get the most out of this chilly season!

There are 22 DIY Recipes to collect, 6 from Balloon Presents, 15 from Snowboys, and one from Isabelle. You'll need Snowflakes to craft these seasonal recipes; regular Snowflakes can be caught with your net as the fall form the sky between December 11th - February 24th (North) and June 11th - August 24th (South). These are also the dates snow will be covering the ground, as well as when you can build Snowboys. Large Snowflakes can only be given to you by Snowboys, who will give you one as a thanks for creating them, and each day thereafter until they melt. We've included pictures of all Winter DIYs and their crafting materials in this guide. You can click the images to enlarge them.

As for the DIYs themselves, first up are the Balloon Present DIY Recipes, which give you Ski flooring and wallpaper. You can obtain the Ski Slope Wall, Ski Wallpaper, Drifting Ice Floor, Glacier Wall, Snowflake Wallpaper, and Snowflake Pochette from shooting down Balloon Presents. You can obtain multiple from Balloon Presents which you can trade with others, and it's also possible to receive the Snowflake Wreath DIY from Balloon Presents, too. Otherwise, Isabelle will gift you the Snowflake Wreath DIY Recipe at the start of the snow season.

Snowboys will give you a Snow DIY if you make them Perfect (details below). If you make them perfect, they'll give you both a DIY and Large Snowflake, and continue to give you a Large Snowflake daily until they melt away. Perfect Snowboy's can give you the following DIY Recipes; Frozen-Treat Set, Frozen Chair, Frozen Counter, Frozen Table, Frozen Bed, Frozen Partition, Frozen Arch, Frozen Pillar, Frozen Sculpture, Frozen Tree, Three-Tiered Snowperson, Ice Wall, Ice Flooring, Snowperson Head, and Ice Wand. It should be noted that the DIYs given to you be the Snowboy's are sent directly to your Nook Phone, so you can not trade them with other players. Also note that snowballs will not spawn if you do not have enough clear snow patches on the ground.

In order to create a Perfect Snowperson, you'll need to role two snowballs to sit on top of one another. You can make a snowball larger by rolling it over snow, and smaller by rolling it over dirt or pavement. Once the two are the perfect size (as large as possible for the bottom, and ear-height for the top) push the smaller one against the larger one to create a Snowboy. We've included a reference image below.

Those in the Northern Hemisphere will also experience the Festive Season during the Winter. Since this event takes place at the same time in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, we'll cover this event at a later date.
