Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Day 8
The day was finally here. Resident Services was no longer a puny little Tent, but was instead a nice spacious Building! Nook opened up the day with his announcement, introducing Isabelle as his newest recruit to help him with his duties. It'd also be the last day Tom would be holding the morning announcements, as Isabelle would be taking his place moving forward.
To celebrate the opening of the Resident Services Building, I received a new service to Nook Miles+, that allowed me to gain 5x more points on a specific task each day. Now, instead of having 5 tasks with 2x bonus, one of those would have a 5x bonus, it's sure to come in handy, especially with how much Nook Miles are used! Attached to the letter was a welcomed Nook Miles Ticket.
Now it was time to get down to business. We held the completion ceremony for the Building, but before we did that there were a couple of things I had to go over with Nook and Isabelle. Isabelle told me of the services she'd be offering, changing the Island Tune, Island Flag, and discussing a resident. Right now I don't have any plans to change those up (maybe on the weekend), so I checked in with what Nook was offering.
Of course, firstly he just had to give me my new mortgage of 758,000 Bells, but also informed me that his home customization service would now serve custom doors. One day I really need to get to work on my house. I do have a nice assortment of treasures in my storage that I could do something with... Maybe another weekend job.
He also had a top secret project... Project K! His plan was to get the infamous K.K. Slider to come to Nublar and hold a concert. Improving Nublar was his prerogative on achieving his plan, and wanted me to bring more residents, and improve the overall image of Nublar. To help, he gave me the Campsite Construction Kit to build a Campsite to help new residents move to Nublar. I was really having my work cut out for me, no pressure!
To finish it off, he was also offering a new construction service to help customize Nublar. We could add more Bridge types, as well as Inclines to help with traversing the rough terrain. These will also come in handy, especially with Project K underway. Now, finally time for the ceremony!
All mainstay residents of Nublar attended, even though it was pouring with rain. It's nice to see they have as much for Nublar as I do! Now it was time to work on the Campsite, but not before checking into the Nook Terminal.
There were also more rewards to exchange with my Nook Miles, and I decided to go with the Ultimate Pocket Stuffing, to further maximise my Storage space. My pockets could now hold a whopping 40 items!
As an apology for being closed yesterday, I received a complementary 500 points, and an automatic 7+ access bonus from tomorrow. Nice to see they didn't scam me out of not being able to access it yesterday! As for the Campsite, the materials I needed were 15 each of Wood, Softwood, Hardwood and Iron Nuggets. All of these supplies were already in my storage, so now it was just a manner of deciding where to place the Campsite...
Honestly, looking at the Map, where the Museum is seems to be the ideal spot for the Campsite, especially with my overall plan on how I want Nublar to look, but obviously that was out of the question. Instead I decided to place it near the bridge to Nook's Cranny for now at least, but will definitely move it later. We've really got our work cut out for us! With construction complete, now we just have to wait for villagers to set up camp.
As I was setting up the Campsite, I could see a fresh face off in the distance. I headed towards them and was introduced to Saharah, a travelling merchant who sold rare rugs and wallpapers. I had the option to buy a mysterious wall and floor for 3,000 Bells each, which would give me an unknown rare wall or flooring, as well as the option to buy three different sized rugs, small, medium, or large - ranging from 1,000 - 2,000 Bells.
I decided to buy one of everything that as being offered, but also received exchange tickets for my purchases on the Rugs. Apparently, if I was able to get 5, I could exchange them for a different wallpaper or floor that wasn't being sold that day. Because I bought the entire set of rugs being sold, I had enough tickets to exchange, and opted for another wallpaper.
I figured now would be a good time to build a second bridge, making it easier to traverse across the landmasses. I went with the South-Western corner of the Island to save constantly having to pull out my Vault Pole to cross the river. Ideally, I wanted the Bridge to go on a diagonal, but there wasn't enough space, instead I went for a horizontal placement - it'll still do the job regardless! It was gonna cost me a hefty 98,000 Bells, but I had more than enough saved up to pay it off right away.
All this hard work done for the day, it was time to relax and head on the daily Mystery Tour. I arrived on the Island quickly, and was greeted by disappointment yet again once I saw the weed-ridden isle... but all that changed after a few short seconds.
After looking at the unique layout I'd never seen before, I heard a scuffling off towards the Beach and decided to check it out. To my surprise, were three scorpions running around in the sand! I think after all this time, I've finally found a rare Island! Too bad Wilbur burns the flight plans once we leave... It might take me a while to make my way back here. I spent so long filling my newly expanded pockets with as many scorpions I could, and then headed back to the mainland. Sadly, by the time my flight got in, Nook's Cranny had closed, so I won't be able to turn them in for a profit until tomorrow. At least this will help lessen the sting of the bridge!
And that was all for today. I did check turning in the morning which were a decent 150 Bells, and I assumed they'd increase in the afternoon, but they dropped to a mere 60 Bells! I'm really hoping they'll go up tomorrow, but I'm only going to be able to check the afternoon prices, so keep your fingers crosses for me. If they're still low, I might have to look at heading over to other Islands.
We unlocked a lot of features on Nubalr today. Now that we can use the relocation service, it might finally be time to start moving all these building around day-by-day, until we can finally get to properly developing Nublar. Luckily after tomorrow I've got the next two days off to work on Project K!
If you want to stay up to date with the latest news, guides, and information be sure to follow us on Twitter and Tumblr! They held a mini Direct last night that went over their plans for the next month which you can check out here. I've also got a couple more guides in the works which I hope to post over the weekend!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons from Nintendo AU
Thanks for posting the morning announcement for that day. I apparently missed it and wanted to see what it was.
